She was employed at Westview Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a member of Bryan Neck Baptist Church in Richmond Hill, GA She was preceded in death by her parents; Horce Blige, Sr. and Rosemary Smalls Blige, brothers; John Blige, Sr., Horace Blige, Jr., Henry Blige, Ricy Blige. SAVANNAH - Robert L. Fears, Sr., 94, died Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Savannah Square. The native and lifelong resident of Savannah was raised at Bethesda Home for Boys and at the time of his death was the oldest surviving Bethesda Boy. Mr. Fears was a member of Calvary of Savannah and retired as an engineer with Seaboard Coastline Railroad. Surviving are two sons, Robert L. Fears, Sr. and his wife, Jennifer, of San Antonio, TX and Donnie Fears of Savannah; a daughter, Sharon Daniel and her husband, Noel, of Savannah; and two granddaughters, Sherri Oliver and Melissa Daniel, both of Savannah. Also surviving is a daughter, Pamela Duncan, of Gadsden, AL. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 26, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. NAPLES, FL - Rory Jenkins, aged 24, passed away on July 21, 2009 in Naples, Florida. Rory was born on April 30, 1985 and spent his childhood in Barrington Hills, IL. After graduating from high school, Rory enlisted in the United States Army and completed his basic training at Fort Benning, GA. Soon after his graduation, he was sent to serve his country in B Company in Iraq and distinguished himself both as an infantryman and a Bradley tank operator. He was a proud and dedicated soldier and was honorably discharged from the Army on June 16, 2009 from Fort Stewart, GA. He planned to attend Bay State College in Boston, MA. Rory was a bright and gregarious young man and will be dearly missed by many. Rory is preceded in death by his mother, Sally Van Ornum Jenkins and is survived by his father, Robert C. Jenkins of Sao Paulo, Brazil; his sister, Jasmin Anne Jenkins of New York City; and his fiancŽe Silvia Ponce of Boston, MA. Other surviving family members are his maternal grandparents, Barbara and Jim Van Ornum, of Billings, MT and his paternal grandmother, Sarah Bogan Jenkins, of Glenview IL; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. SAVANNAH - Melanie Senn Zueger, 48, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Kenneth George Zueger, died Friday morning, July 24, 2009, at Candler Hospital. Born in Newberry, South Carolina, she was a daughter of Frank Forrest Senn and Mary Alice Gruber Senn. Melanie was a member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church in Newberry. She was a graduate of Bismarck Junior College with a degree in computer science and the Medical University of South Carolina School of Medicine with a degree in occupational therapy. Melanie was a licensed and registered occupational therapist in Georgia and South Carolina and was currently with Heritage Park of Savannah. Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Kenneth George Zueger of Savannah, Georgia, her parents, Frank and Mary Alice Senn of Newberry, South Carolina; her step-son, Nick Zueger and his wife, Jill, of Columbia, South Carolina; two step-grandchildren, Will and Caroline, and her two dogs whom she dearly loved, Kilo and Zulu. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Sunday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 o'clock Monday in Smyrna Presbyterian Church, Newberry. This is about a lady who lives in Arkadelphia, AR. She gave CPR to a chicken and was recently on the Tonight Show, same night Terry Bradshaw was on the show. Jackie Calhoun of Arkadelphia, Arkansas is that man. ... She attempted mouth to mouth resuscitation and CPR. After a few minutes, the chicken responded.

Do you like putting chicken in your mouth? I do but only after it has been appropriately killed, butchered and cooked. I wouldn't put a dead chicken in my mouth until it is ready to serve on my table. But one guy would disagree with that opinion. Jackie Calhoun of Arkadelphia, Arkansas is that man. He arrived home for lunch to find his pet chicken, Boo-Boo drowned in a big puddle. He and his wife attempted to revive the chicken to no avail but thankfully, Jackie's sister, an ex-nurse, happened by the homestead. She attempted mouth to mouth resuscitation and CPR. After a few minutes, the chicken responded. The bird is apparently doing fine now. There was no word on what the Calhoun's ate for dinner that night.

ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas (AP) — This chicken had lips, just not her own.
A retired nurse saved her brother's chicken, Boo Boo, by administering mouth-to-beak resuscitation last week after the fowl was found floating face down in the family's pond.
Marian Morris said she hadn't had any practice with CPR in years, but she was interested to see if she "still had it."
"I breathed into its beak, and its dadgum eyes popped open," Morris said. "I breathed into its beak again, and its eyes popped open again. I said, 'I think this chicken's alive now. Keep it warm."'
She said she did not know how to find a pulse on a chicken.
Boo Boo's owners, Jackie and Becky Calhoun, put her in a large cardboard box containing a grain feeder and water. They also placed a heater nearby.
The chicken is called Boo Boo because she is easily frightened. The Calhouns thought Boo Boo was startled and flopped into the pond.

Pure Southern Honky Tonk!

My name is Billy Michael Davis. I live in Chesapeake, Va., but I grew up in Vidalia,Ga. It's a little town near Savannah. I really don't remember when I started singing because I grew up doing it.
My father was a great singer and musician as well as my mother's brother, so between them they had me singing most of the time. My mother said I started performing publicly when I was three, but my first memories of performing are when I was about six years old.
My father had what we called "porch pickins" on most Friday and Saturday nights. That sometimes included as many as ten or twelve musicians playing at once. People came from all over for these events because some of the best pickers and singers in the area showed up for them. I always did several songs before the evening was over.
I did a lot of gospel music in church growing up and later on I was in a couple of gospel groups. But later on I discovered beer joints and I knew I had found my niche.
After that I played honky tonks and beer joints throughout the Southeast in several different bands. That is what gave me my style of music. I call it Southern Honky Tonk. The years in clubs show in both my singing and songwriting.
Over the years I've played everywhere from outdoor beer joints to big opry houses and community centers.
I've been in country music for years and have been turned down by almost every major record label and publishing house. They all say they like my music but it is not marketable because it's too country for today’s record buying public. But I believe there are still a lot of traditional country music fans out there.
As long as someone will give me a stage or somebody will buy my records I'll keep on picking and singing.

The mysterious Rod Stewart sighting in Everett last week is solved.

As I wrote Tuesday, the singer may have dropped by an Everett piano bar. Patrons thought he was the real deal.

It turns out Steve Bobbitt, who has been impersonating the world-famous crooner for 13 years, was hired to come to Everett to perform at a wake.

He stayed Thursday night at the Best Western Cascadia Inn in Everett. Keith Lander, manager at Cascadia Inn, confirmed the guest was an impersonator.

"He looks a lot like Rod," Lander said. "He was a very nice guy."

I agreed. When I reached Bobbitt by phone Tuesday, he was super.

He raved about Everett in a gravelly voice.

"We had a blast there," Bobbitt said. "The people were all great."

After the paid gig, someone said they should drop by Chopstix, and Bobbitt cruised into the piano bar and sang.

"I went just to be silly," he said.

The impersonator was hired to entertain at Rock and Roll Clinic at 1905 Hewitt Ave. in Everett. Iron Maidens, a female tribute band for Iron Maiden, also played at the private party.

Clinic owner Matt "Chewy" Lyons organized the private-party wake for his friend of 40 years, Patrick Connors, 46, who died Jan. 28 at his Lynnwood home.

Connors loved Rod Stewart.

Lyons was surprised anyone would care about celebrity sightings. He often invites stars to his business.

He's invited a Garth Brooks impersonator for a private appearance in mid-May, Lyons said.

Bobbitt, 54, said about 15 years ago, a girlfriend who styled hair said that with the right cut and color, Bobbitt would look like Rod Stewart. She did his hair and sure enough, out on a club date, he was mobbed by two dozen women.

"She said she would change my hair back," Bobbitt, 54, said. "I said 'I don't think so.' "

My friend Judy Sankey of Shoreline saw Bobbitt do his Rod Stewart act at a casino in Reno, Nev., about 10 years ago.

"I sat there with my mouth open," Sankey said. "I could not believe it wasn't Rod Stewart."

Bobbitt met the real performer.

A radio station near his hometown of Chicago gave away a trip to join Bobbitt at a Rod Stewart concert. Bobbitt talked to a guest who attended the concert the night before, then arrived to sit in the front row dressed exactly like Stewart.

"A band member looked down there, pointing to Rod," Bobbitt said. "He would come around the circular stage and look down. I had his curiosity."

When he went backstage and met Stewart, the superstar told Bobbitt his band was all talking about him.

"It was kind of fun," Bobbitt said. "In all honestly I didn't think I looked like him until I met him."

As for Rod Stewart, he's on tour in Australia.

Turns out he didn't jet down under last week, straight from Everett, but I was close.
