VIDALIA - Mrs. Mildred Hilton Sowell, 86, died Monday. Survivors: son, J. Hyman Sowell;one sister, Helen Hilton Morris; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitaiton: 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Mildred Hilton Sowell, age 86 of Vidalia, died Monday, March 29, 2010 in the Bethany Nursing Center in Vidalia after an extended illness. She was a native of Montgomery County and had lived there and in Toombs County all of her life. She retired from Oxford Industries in Vidalia after thirty-five years of service. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Vidalia where she served as the church pianist and at the Smith Street Baptist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard B. Sowell in 1995, and her parents, Joe Hilton and India McDonald.

Mrs. Sowell is survived by one son, J. Hyman Sowell of Vidalia, one sister, Helen Hilton Morris of Vidalia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 1st at 11:00 am in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Vinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

 Mr. Gerald M. Tootle, age 63 of Vidalia, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at his home after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs and Montgomery Counties. He formerly was a carpenter, floor covering installer, and over the road truck driver. He worked eleven years with the Montgomery County Board of Education as a school bus driver and in the maintenance department. He was Baptist by faith, and was preceded in death by his parents Buster and Alpha Denton Tootle and a brother, William Donnell Tootle.

Mr. Tootle is survived by his wife, Cherry Tootle of Vidalia, one son, Michael Shane Tootle (Rachel) Bowen of Soperton, three daughters, Julie (Rex) Dopson, Cindy (Sambo) Boone, and Vickie (Randy) Gould all of Jacksonville, Florida, four sisters, Shelby Williamson, and Shirley Helms of Vidalia, Jean Bryant of Lyons, and Louise Hadden of Swainsboro, two brothers, Noel Tootle of South Carolina and Author Darrell Tootle of Vidalia, ten grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27th at 11:00 am in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Henry Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

 Mrs. Frances P. Hall, age 65 of Lyons, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at her home. She was a native of Toombs County, living in Odom for ten years, and moved back to Toombs County in 1975. She was a homemaker, a former member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Lyons, and was preceded in death by a son, Clarence Clifford Hall, and her father, Walter Norfleet. Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, James K. “Jimmy” Hall of Lyons, two sons, Wayne (Donna) Hall of Reidsville and James C. Hall of Lyons, three daughters, Freda (Pick) Toole of Uvalda; Connie Sue Hall of Lyons; and Patricia Faye (Jose) Ortiz of Lyons, her mother, Lessie Mae Johnson, three sisters, Dorine Hutchison of Soperton; Virginia (Ralph) Denmark of Johnson’s Corner; and Ollie Norfleet of Soperton, three brothers, Bennie Norfleet, Alfred Norfleet, and Kenneth Norfleet all of Soperton, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27th at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
