VIDALIA - Mrs. Mildred Hilton Sowell, 86, died Monday. Survivors: son, J. Hyman Sowell;one sister, Helen Hilton Morris; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitaiton: 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Mildred Hilton Sowell, age 86 of Vidalia, died Monday, March 29, 2010 in the Bethany Nursing Center in Vidalia after an extended illness. She was a native of Montgomery County and had lived there and in Toombs County all of her life. She retired from Oxford Industries in Vidalia after thirty-five years of service. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Vidalia where she served as the church pianist and at the Smith Street Baptist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard B. Sowell in 1995, and her parents, Joe Hilton and India McDonald.

Mrs. Sowell is survived by one son, J. Hyman Sowell of Vidalia, one sister, Helen Hilton Morris of Vidalia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 1st at 11:00 am in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Vinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
