Mr. Omer C. "O.C." Howell (Jan. 30, 1915-May 18, 2010)
MARVIN COMMUNITY, TOOMBS COUNTY, GEORGIA - Mr. Omer C. "O.C." Howell, 95 of the Marvin Community, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in the Bethany Nursing Center in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was a life long resident of Toombs County, a farmer and retired from the Lyons Stockyard after forty years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Lyons Lions Club, and served as a Toombs County Commissioner where he was involved with the replacement of the last wooded bridge in Toombs County. He was chosen as the 2002 Conservationist of the Year, and was a member of the Marvin United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by five siblings, J.D., Lonnie, Lamar, and Grady Howell, and Addie Howell Dilmore. Mr. Howell is survived by one son, Bobby C. Howell of the Marvin Community, three brothers, Archie C. (Mertice) Howell of Darien; David (Janice) Howell of the Providence Community; and Wendell (Jackie) Howell of Vidalia, three sisters, Polly Wilson, and Bertie (Harold) Norton of the Providence Community; and Beulah Spivey of Melbourne, Florida, two sisters-in-law, Nita and Josephine Howell, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 24th at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V.
