Cedar Crossing,
Mr. Jack D. Williams, age 73 of the Cedar Crossing Community, died Sunday, May 23, 2010 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, and a 1954 Graduate of Toombs Central High School. He served in the Air National Guard for four years, was employed with the Georgia Power Company for twenty years, the owner/operator of Williams Brothers Produce in Lyons for thirty-five years, a school bus driver with Toombs County Board of Education for twenty-seven years, and was the recipient of several local and regional bus driving rodeo awards. He was a member of the Department of Family and Children Services Board of Directors, a member of the Toombs County Democratic Committee, and a former Lions Club member. He was Methodist, and was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny J. Williams and Cora Lee O’Neal Williams. He was a loving husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and also was an avid hunter and fisherman.
 
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Glenda Williams of Cedar Crossing; three daughters, Laura D. (Tracy “Skip”) Clark of Cedar Crossing, Jeanne M. (Paul) Wright of Crystal River, Florida, and Leigh Ann (Lyndon) Amis of Washington, Georgia; two sisters, Pinky (Billy) Milligan of Cedar Crossing, and Johnnie Jean Branch of the Five Points Community; two brothers, Troy (Leola) Williams of Lyons, and Trenton (Louise) Williams of Cedar Crossing; five grandchildren, Nick Peterson, Britteny Blissett, Melissa Clark-Stopa, Ben Clark, and Blake Amis; one great-grandchild, Jackson Stopa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26th at 11:00 am in the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Thompson and Reverend Henry Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in the Sharpe Cemetery near Alston.
 
 
Memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 160, Vidalia, GA 30475.
 
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00.
