Jack C. Harris -

SAVANNAH - Our dear friends and loved ones. Jack C. Harris, beloved husband, father and grand dad, passed on the arms of our Heavenly Father on Monday, November 16, 2009. He was born on December 20, 1929. Jack Harris was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and lived an amazing life, using a delightful wit which left a lasting impression on so many. His friends are too numerous to mention, but were important in his life. He traveled the world in his successful career with Union Carbide Corporation, choosing to retire in Savannah where he and his wife enjoyed 24 wonderful years together. He leaves us many, many heartfelt memories. His love and devotion shaped the lives of his wife, Betty, who he met in elementary school and celebrated 57 years of marriage this summer, his two daughters, Barbara Scott (Honey), and Amy Harris-Solomon; his son, Thomas Harris (Tommy), and his son-in-law, Thomas Scott. He had four grandchildren, Jackie Scott, Austin Scott, Skye Solomon, Sara Solomon (Lizzy), who were especially dear to him. He loved his Vanderbilt Commodores and Atlanta Braves baseball, rarely missing a game, watching financial news, and his golf where he may have been at his best. He enjoyed family visits most of all, where many annual traditions grew, seeing his children succeed and watching his grandchildren develop. His smile was contagious. His family wishes to thank the many wonderful staff and doctors who cared for him at St. Joseph's Candler Hospital. A private memorial service will take place at 12 noon, Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel and a celebration of his life will take place with each holiday.
