Cedar Crossing Community,

Mr. F. J. Barfield, age 90 of Cedar Crossing, died Saturday, November 21, 2009 in the Bethany Nursing Center in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, a farmer, and retired from Wal-mart in Vidalia after thirteen years. He was a member of the Oasis Church of God, and served as the Sunday School Superintendent at Cedar Crossing Church of God, Lumber City Church of God, and Sterling Church of God. He also was actively involved in the construction of these and other churches. In the 1960’s he and his family had a gospel singing radio ministry at various stations in the area. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loney Elease Bailey Barfield, a son, Ronald Barfield, and a daughter, Uretha Barfield.

 

Mr. Barfield is survived by two sons, Johnny and Charlsie Barfield of Lyons; and Frank Barfield of Thomasville, five daughters, Judy and Charles Morris of Cedar Crossing; Becky and Bobby Carpenter of Mt. Vernon; LaRue and Tony DeLoach of Hazlehurst; Marie Barfield of Toombs Central; and LaBreeska and Ivan Davis of Cedar Crossing, seventeen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 23rd at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Frank Barfield, Travis Barfield, Jeremy DeLoach, Bobby Carpenter, and Mike Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Crossing Church of God Cemetery.

 


 

Edward Allen Caughran -

 

SAVANNAH - Edward Allen Caughran passed away at home on November 21st in the care of Hospice of Savannah. He was born in Fayetteville, TN on August 31, 1931. He was a graduate of the University of Miami then worked in Savannah for the Board of Education as band director of Savannah High School and Coordinator of Arts and Music. Edward is preceded in death by his daughter, Carol, and his brother, Clarence Caughran. He is survived by his wife, Doris, his brother, Bennett Caughran, his sons and their wives, Joel and Tashia Caughran and Allen and Christy Caughran, eight grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and a cast of characters. The family wishes to express its great appreciation to Hospice of Savannah and John O'Neil for their excellent care. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2009 with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. SAVANNAH - Mr. Walter Schnieder Fuller entered eternal rest on Thursday November 19, 2009 at Candler Hospital. He was a native of Savannah, GA and lived here his entire life. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father; Walter Snider Fuller, Sr. and mother Marie Fuller Smashum. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters; Evonne Fuller, Evette Fuller, both of Savannah, GA; five sisters; Mary Ann Mack, Jeanette Fuller, Evelyn (Leroy) Smashum, Cynthia Hayward, Theresa Smashum, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Helen Brown Jungemann -

 

SAVANNAH - Helen Brown Jungemann, 87, died November 21, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Albany, daughter of the late, Henry Albert Brown and Willie Bell Bothwell Brown. Mrs. Jungemann was an accredited master flower show judge of National Garden Clubs. She was a member of the Hibiscus Garden Club, the Garden Club of Georgia, Deep South District, past president of Garden Club Council of Chatham County and former member of Savannah Rose Society. She was an active participant at the Windsor Forest Golden Age Center. She was a longtime member of White Bluff Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, sang in the Chancel Choir and was a member of Joy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Jungemann was also a member of the Intercessors for Israel prayer group. Her daughter, Susan Claire Jungemann preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Edward F. Jungemann; daughters, Mary J. Pilgrim; Ann J. Robertson and her husband, Randy; grandson, Randall E. Robertson all of Savannah and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Mrs. Jungemann will lie in state at White Bluff Presbyterian Church from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. Funeral: 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at White Bluff Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Eric Beene officiating. Colonel Theodore Kolgaklis U.S. Army Reserve, Retired -

 

SAVANNAH - Theodore Kolgalis, 88, of Savannah, Ga., died November 20, 2009 at Riverview Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Savannah, Ga., was a graduate of Savannah high School and Armstrong Jr. College. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii during WWII, advancing to the rank of Tech Sergeant. Subsequently, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring as a Colonel. He worked for his family's business, Savannah Tobacco Company, from 1946 to 1965; then as a Civil Service employee for 18 years at Warner Robbins AFB. Upon retirement, he moved back to Savannah. He was a member of St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church. In better health, he enjoyed reading, traveling and early morning exercising with friends at the Candler Wellness Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Arthur Kolgaklis and Kyratsoula Sotiriou Kolgaklis, brother Arthur T. Kolgaklis and sisters Mary Kolgaklis, Arthula Vergas and Kalliope Stevens. He is survived by a brother, Alex Kole of Savannah, nephews, Jimmy Stevens (Deena) of Savannah, Ted Kolgaklis (Becky) of Richmond Hill and Jimmy Vergas (Sophie) of Greenville, S.C. and Nieces Mary S. Roy (Gene) of Savannah, Kay Litchfield of Savannah, Ethel Mackrell (Michael) of Laguna Beach, Ca., Tina Coyle (Richard) of Granite Springs, NY and cousin Kim Kolgaklis (Faye) of Kingsland, Ga. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Hospice Savannah, Inc., Riverview Health & Rehabilitation Center or St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church. In her early years, Mrs. Ulmer was employed by Southern Bell and ASI Research Company. She and her husband previously lived in Franklin, Ohio, Richmond, Virginia and Norwalk, Iowa before returning to Savannah. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Carl B. Ulmer of Savannah; children, Carl R. Ulmer and his wife, Sheila of St. Mary's, GA; Glenn D. Ulmer and his wife, Sarah of Powhatan, VA; Michael E. Ulmer and his wife, Maya of Newport News, VA; Amy L. Ulmer of Cincinnati, OH; Sandra L.
