Kay Tullis Jackson (September 14, 1946 - December 14, 2009) -

 

SAVANNAH - Kay Tullis Jackson, 63, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Hospice House after a long illness. The Savannah native was the daughter of the late William O. and Grace Tullis. She was a math teacher for many years, teaching at Robert W. Groves High School, Benedictine Military School and Herschel V. Jenkins High School. She later worked as a bank teller with C&S and Bank of America. Kay was a member of the National Rose Society and a life time member of Bull Street Baptist Church. Her daughter, Tami Renee Jackson, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Roy "Jack" Jackson; daughters, Stacy Jackson Rector, Tara Leigh Jackson; grandson, Cade "C.A." Rector; sister, Martha Ann Stewart and brother, William O. Tullis, Jr. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Bull Street Baptist Church. HARDEEVILLE, SC - J. Daniel Bryan, 96 of Hardeeville, SC passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at his home. He was born in Hardeeville, SC on January 12, 1913. He was the son of the late Calvin Lee and Elizabeth O'Quinn Bryan. He was the former owner of Bryan's store and a non commissioned Game Warden for many years. He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Wilma Fender Bryan of Hardeeville, SC; one son, Kenny (Ginger) Bryan of Hardeeville, SC; one daughter, Rita B. (Len) Thomas of Hardeeville, SC; one brother, N.B. Bryan of Hardeeville, SC; two sisters, Savannah M. Bryan and Tillie B. Fender both of Hardeeville, SC; four grandchildren, Kelly Barrell, Len Thomas III, Lindsay Bryan and Bryan Thomas; two great grandchildren, Louis Barrell and Wesley Barrell. Mrs. Grace Evelyn Jones (1935-December 12, 2009).  

 

MIDWAY, LIBERTY COUNTY, GEORGIA - Mrs. Grace Evelyn Jones, 74, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Hospice Savannah after a brief illness. Her passing was peaceful with her daughters at her side. Mrs. Jones was retired from Liberty Memorial Hospital in Hinesville with more than 20 years of service. She worked in many areas of the hospital but her greatest enjoyment as a nurse was to be a part of welcoming many new lives into the Liberty County community. In the years after her retirement, she went on to volunteer as a Pink Lady and did Hospice respite care as well. Mrs. Jones loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Gum Branch Baptist Church where she had been very active in her singles group and a volunteer Bible School teacher. She will be missed by many. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Edward Jones and her daughter, Lori Lynn Bennett. She is survived by her two daughters, Deleta Kay Terrell of Pensacola, FL and Sue Fowler of Hinesville, GA; three grand children, Justin (Elisa) Terrell, Whitnie Mock, and Zachary Carter: and her greatest joy and namesake, her great-granddaughter, Gracie Carter. Visitation services will be held on Tuesday night, December 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington. Funeral services will be held at Gum Branch Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 16 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. David Daus officiating. Burial will follow at Allenhurst Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Sidney Erle Smith -

 

SAVANNAH - Sidney Erle Smith, 90, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Ruth Minick Smith, died Sunday morning, December 13, 2009, at Riverview Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Brooklet, Georgia, he was a son of the late Sidney J. Smith and the late Margaret Della Scott Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Temple Baptist Church and served in the United States Army Air Force as a Master Sergeant during World War II. He retired as a supply technician for the 117th Tactical Control Squadron of the Georgia Air National Guard. Mr. Smith later volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Smith. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Minick Smith of Savannah, Georgia; one daughter, Louise Sheaffer and her husband, Jimmy, of Bluffton, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Jessica Shultz, Heather Rhodes, Ericka Arnold, Kimberly Shires, Terri Donaldson and Billy Barrow and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Thursday morning at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue. Johnson’s Corner Community,

Mrs. Sadie B. Tinch Toole, age 90 of the Johnson’s Corner Community, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. She was a native of Fentress County, Tennessee and born to the late John and Cora Jane Young Tinch. She was a 1939 Graduate of Tennessee State College in Nashville. She taught first grade in Cookeville, Tennessee for two years before moving to Jacksonville, Florida where she taught first grade for thirty-one years. She retired in 1983, later moved to Johnson’s Corner and was a member of the Edmond Chapel Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading and going to church. She was preceded in death by her loving companion of twenty-six years James G. Toole, four brothers, Isadore, Wylie, Glen and Burl Tinch and five sisters, Myrtle Maxwell, Opal Byers, Frances Lingle, Glenice Atkins and Burlene Nolan.

 

She is survived by a sister, Leona Wheeler of Livingston, Tennessee, three sisters-in-law, Margaret Hightower Toole, Nadine Toole and Nan Toole al of Lyons, one brother-in-law, Thomas Nolan of Cookeville, one stepson, Gerald Toole of Switzerland, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 16th at 11:00 am in the Edmond Chapel Church of God with Reverend F.M. Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Edmond Chapel Church of God on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00pm.
